Posts about the Western Uusimaa welfare area and social and health policy.
The Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county organises social and health care and rescue services from Hanko to Espoo and Karkkila, so its council’s decisions shape the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of people. It decides on health centres, child health clinics, pupil welfare and where services are located. I stood in the regional elections in 2022 and 2025 and served as a deputy member of the rescue services board. My posts cover why local services should stay local, what a well-functioning health centre would look like, and client fees.
I am the Greens’ parliamentary candidate in the Uusimaa electoral district for 2027. Public transport has to stay a sensible alternative to the car across the HSL area: flat fare increases cost most for those who travel furthest, and the financing model should be fixed instead. As a Kirkkonummi councillor I proposed rejecting the Västra cooperation, because the municipality’s future lies with the capital region. Earlier posts cover adult responsibility, evidence-based decisions and upper secondary tuition fees.

Raising HSL ticket prices is a mistake
HSL plans fare rises of about three percent a year in 2027–2029. A flat percentage hits Kirkkonummi hardest, where commuting requires an ABCD ticket.

I voted against Västra

What if there were no health centre?
